Hump Day

Feels like hump day. No man’s land. Long day so far and it’s not half over. In between weekend recaps and weekend previews, a NSF board call, the second week of DocWeek.

The Iroquois slowly fading behind us. Great day at the races. Radnor looming. The Preakness, too. I miss going to the Preakness with a 4,000-word story in doubt. Always in doubt. And then coming to light – Curlin, Smarty Jones, Funny Cide, Oxbow…and all the others. I wrote a bunch of those along the way. The Preakness Recap for Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred. That would make the yearly “I’ll miss…I won’t miss” column.

Now I’m off to Radnor again. I wrote – or rode – a bunch of those, too. Three runners Saturday as the spring season fades away. That fast. Poof. Gone.

The fifth from Belterra rolls past. The sixth from Sligo coming up. Hump day rolls ever so slowly forward.
