Cool Jet makes his return in the Mariann de Tejeda Memorial. The $75,000 feature attracted a small but select field of six, led by multiple Grade 1 winner Snap Decision. Cool Jet tries to rebound from a heavy fall in the Temple Gwathmey in April. We gave him plenty of time and he’s enjoyed outings at Shawan Downs the previous two weekends. Stephen Mulqueen rides for the first time.

Zabeel Champion, third in the Grade 1 Iroquois in May, preps for bigger things down the road in the flat race. This will tell us where we are going. Apprentice Whitney Schweizer rides.

Solid card at the Charlottesville oval. In an ever-growing era of fragile hunt meets, Foxfield has been revitalized. Purses have risen and the course has improved. De Tejeda – and Coconut Creek – would be proud.
