Back to Work

Funny old Monday. Squeezed between Sunday and New Year’s Eve. Day on or day off?

44 and cloudy at 35538. Yeah, we are home. Alabama in the books.

Early 2025 action for Riverdee as Lorraine returns to Turfway Park Friday night. As they say the price is gone. She was 32-1 last time, finished second. She’s 7-2 this time. Good post. Big field.

Congratulations to Daryl Jacob, retiring after winning the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase at Limerick Sunday. Battling injuries and age, Jacob clawed back to the saddle this season, had planned to retire at the end of it but changed that when Impaire Et Passe won the Grade 1. Jacob planted a kiss right above his right eye. Nothing like a farewell kiss.

A thousand winners, a Grand National, a French Champion Hurdle, three Betfair Chases, an Irish Gold Cup. Most – and best – of all, a long and respected career. A jockey’s jockey. Take a bow.

Race of the Day: We’ll be rooting for Mill Street for our friends Dan Donoghue and Hilary Pridham. Good old American bred, by Medaglia d’Oro out of a Street Sense mare. The 3-year-old tries to make it two in a row for Ben Pauling and Ben Jones.
