Racing abandoned at Cork, Newcastle, Sandown and Wincanton.

Piedmont 12th Night Hunt moved to yesterday.

Oh, what to do on a Saturday morning…

Drive. Yeah, drive. One more road trip home and one more party and we can tie a big bow around Christmas 2024. Thirty-four days from first party to final party. Off the top of my head, I counted 14 – from a noon piano recital to black-tie New Year’s Eve Hogmanay.

Whew.

Lorraine ran well last night, finishing second again at Turfway Park. Like she does, she broke well and found a comfortable stalking spot in fourth. In the middle of the turn, jockey Evin Roman, substituting for a sick Alberto Burgos, had to wait and tap the brakes for a few strides behind the faltering frontrunners. All the while, Luan Machado was revving up Ms Sedona. The favorite swooped past on the outside. Lorraine tried but couldn’t stave off the winner. Solid effort. No complaints.

Watch the replay.

If you’re keeping score, that’s five seconds in eight starts for the French-bred filly. Three seconds from four starts since we bought her. We’ll back off, freshen her up and look for long races on synthetic or turf in the spring campaign.

Race of the Day: Aqueduct. Eighth race. The Jerome. Prolific Kevin Attard tries Mansetti on the dirt after a 2-for-3 campaign at Woodbine. The son of Collected posted a good breeze over the training track at Belmont Park Dec. 24.

Name of the Day: Aqueduct. Eighth race. Omaha Omaha. The 3-year-old is by Audible. Peyton Manning would be proud.

Heading home.
