Productive Saturday with two wins, a second, a third and a fifth. Checks all around.
Penicillin Success surprised us in the maiden timber at Blue Ridge. Stephen Mulqueen put the first-time starter into the race, received positive jumps the whole way and toured home to win easily. Nice horse. Good start.
Roja Redemption and Graham Watters dominated a maiden starter hurdle at Blue Ridge. Still a work in progress, the son of Flintshire learned on the job and won easily. Water gets deeper from here but a winner on the board.
Potus loved the bigger fences at My Lady’s Manor, loping and jumping on the lead before finishing second to impressive winner Eternal Story. Virginia Korrell got the ride earlier in the week and did a sweet job on the son of Lemon Drop Kid. The Maryland timber circuit looks like his game.
Cool Jet finished an uncompetitive third in the apprentice hurdle at Blue Ridge. Too sharp, too fast, too far back. Hopefully it will propel him to bigger things down the road. A horse without a lot of options.
Include It lagged in the back of the My Lady’s Manor and couldn’t close any ground on the soft going, winding up fifth. Not his day, a rare blip for an overachiever.
All in all, a good day.
