Three

Three chances this weekend. Recent purchase Wilma Flintshire makes her stakes debut in the Marion DuPont Scott Memorial for trainer Lilith Boucher and jockey Graham Watters. The 4-year-old daughter of Flintshire has posted a second and two thirds over hurdles. I followed her on the flat a bit, didn’t do anything about it and have watched her make the switch to jumping this year. Glad to get involved and hoping she relishes the stretch to 2 3/8 miles. Read about the race’s namesake.

Cool Jet tries to make it three in a row in the Grade 3 Noel Laing Stakes. The 9-year-old lumps top weight of 158, spotting the field 14-16 pounds, over the natural hedges. Bernie Dalton takes the return call for trainer Jack Fisher. Another race named in honor of a legend who rode Trouble Maker in the Grand National. Read about the race’s namesake.

Potus goes on the road Sunday for the Arther O. Choate, Jr. Memorial at the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup. The son of Lemon Drop Kid won his most recent start at Virginia Fall and steps up against a small but tough field of allowance timber horses. Graham Watters rides for Jack Fisher. And, sure, while we’re at it, you should read about the war hero.
