Monday extra

I’ll Sort That. Lulamba. Fingle Bridge. Nardaran. The Yellow Clay. Jetara. Dinoblue. Found A Fifty. Captain Guinness. Kopek Des Bordes.

Just a few of the names on a routine Monday. Navan moved its card because of heavy rain from Saturday to Monday which provides a real bonus to a quiet Monday. I went hunting Saturday, with a slightly bittersweet feeling, in a first-world problem context, because I was missing strong cards at Cheltenham and Navan. We hunted hard for a little over a hour before Lemonade Thursday flung his left front shoe like a frisbee, more first-world problems, and we went home early. I managed some Cheltenham replays from the car park and get to see Navan today.

The once-beaten Lulamba heads to Exeter for his chase debut for Nicky Henderson. Just a five-horse field but plenty of depth as they’ve combined to win 15 races. Catch the beginner’s chase at 9:00 a.m. Actually, this just ran. Low sun forced four fences to be bypassed, bummer, but Lulamba was unfazed, jumping accurately and cruising to an effortless score. What price, Cheltenham?

The once-beaten Kopek Des Bordes makes his chase debut for Willie Mullins later this morning. Read his Stable Tour in the Racing Post. Can he match stablemate Final Demand’s debut from yesterday? Check it out at 10:20 this morning.

As for action here, today is the final entry day of the 2025 steeplechase season. Hoping to finish strong at Aiken Fall and the Colonial Cup. Pudding Lane, Serifos, Ethics, Cool Jet and Jhirsch will go on the road.

Race of the Day: Kopek Des Bordes makes his chase debut at Navan. 10:20 a.m.

Bet of the Day: Premier in the seventh at Plumpton. 10:50 a.m.
