Numbers

Still thinking about resolutions, plans, goals…

Looking at the numbers (I’d rather look at the horses), domestically and internationally in 2025, Riverdee won 19 races from 98 starts for $748,258. Grade 1 winner Cool Jet led the way with $190,500. Promising novice Cyber Ninja contributed $99,076. Three-time maiden winner Vintage Year added $94,150. Roja Redemption kicked in $48,500. Champion 3-year-old Ethics tossed in $37,800.

Strong year for the stable. By far, our best season, eclipsing our previous best season by a wide margin. Hundreds of thousands wide.

The big goal was to earn our first leading owner title. That carrot had been out there for a long time. That one is satisfaction, a line on a list checked off. Cool Jet becoming the leading earner was another goal achieved. It would have been hard to declare him as the one who was going to do it but he overachieved all the way to the top. Proud of him.

As for next year, what are the goals?

$1 million in earnings…

30 wins…

Bigger presence on the flat…

Win at Cheltenham…

Win at Saratoga…

Win at Far Hills…

Win the Colonial Cup…

Champions…

Just a start.

Quote of the Day:

“People can feel perfection.” – Walt Disney.

Races of the Day:

Bahrain. Eighth Race. 11:40 a.m. George Baker sends out two. Nesthorn was impressive in his stable debut and returns two weeks later. Raised in the handicap but still potent in a competitive race.

Meydan. Eighth Race. 12:35. Burdett Road spent last season over jumps. He returns to the flat. We’ve always liked Nightwalker.
