Disappointing result yesterday as Sherminator failed to make any impact at Aintree. Too far back, behind a wall (walls) of horses, he wound up 13th. Distance was arguably too short. Ground was probably too quick. Tactics weren’t prudent. All those factors, all those decisions, all those variables in a sport which tosses factors, decisions, variables – and luck – into a mixing bowl each and every day. Frustrating.
But we move on, because that’s what we do.
Off to My Lady’s Manor for one. Include It, a gallant veteran providing a young apprentice a trip around an historic course. James Wyatt has led more horses to the paddock than he’s ever ridden out of the paddock. Looking for Include It to turn back the clock and find those legs that nearly won the Manor back in 2024.
Disappointing news on the Middleburg Training Center. A fight worth fighting but not a fair fight by any means. The biggest threat to horse racing is when owners of tracks and training centers don’t want to own tracks and training centers. Be careful who gets the keys.
Walking out the door. Another road. Another race.
