Behind and ahead

Back home for a day or two before Thanksgiving.

It’s that time of year. When you look behind to see what you accomplished and look ahead to see what you want to accomplish. Every trip home from Camden, those two things have swirled around my mind.

I scrolled back through my journal for this year and saw a list of goals, personal and profession, written on Jan 2. Riverdee being champion NSA owner is on there. The first thing on the list. Check. Champion 3-year-old wasn’t on there but we’ll check that. Leading money earning horse wasn’t on there either, but we’ll check that off as well. There are a lot of other things scrawled on that page – win at Saratoga, win at Cheltenham, Steeplechase Eclipse Award…read more, write more, run more.

We’ll keep trying.

No time to rest. No time to reminisce. Time to restock. Time to reload. Time to refocus.

Looking at our roster, we’ve added some fillies and mares, Wilma Flintshire, Lorraine, V Inspired, which we lacked this year. The veteran stakes horses – Cool Jet, Welshman, Zabeel Champion – are getting old but can certainly still compete. Cyber Ninja and Ethics look like promising young horses. We’ve added a couple of new maidens, De La Cruz, Then What, but need a few more. Rocket One, Tuddenham Green, Roja Redemption are coming back. Include It and Potus will aim at timber in the spring. And a bunch of other pieces to the puzzle.
