One day of Breeders’ Cup in the books. One to go.
Red eye home tonight.
Potus heads to Callaway Gardens today. Pietrelcina travels to Laurel tomorrow. Last chances of the year, most likely.
Strong day of racing yesterday.
Colin Keane rode the race of the day, waiting and pouncing with Magnum Force in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. Immersive dominated the Juvenile Fillies, much the best. Lake Victoria solidified herself as the best 2-year-old turf filly in the world, toying with 13 rivals in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Citizen Bull reminded us about California speed on the dirt as favorite East Avenue bungled the break in the Juvenile. Henri Matisse rallied to win the aforementioned finale.
My bet of the day, Aomori City, barged through the gate in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile turf, reloaded, broke tepidly, lagged in last and rallied to be third. The texts come in a flurry, ‘best horse…should have won…hope you bet to show…’ I didn’t.
There’s always a new day. City of Troy puts it on the line.
