Weather Watch

I’m watching the weather at Gowran Park, Taunton Racecourse, and of course, Cheltenham. Meanwhile, it’s lashing down and whipping wind at 35538. Apparently dry and sunny everywhere else.

An entry for Imarajan at Gowran Saturday and an entry for Sherminator at Taunton Monday. Soft ground at both venues would be ideal. Preliminary. As always, a thousand factors effecting the decisions. Baby steps for both of these novice hurdlers.

The domestic team will get rolling at Warrenton Point-to-Point March 15, then one at Aiken and maybe two at Camden. Starting off slowly like always and then gathering momentum as the season rolls into April. The spring steeplechase circuit and the summer meet at Saratoga are the main targets.

We just bought a new horse, Ethics, yesterday. The 3-year-old son of Hard Spun should make a nice summer turf horse and a hurdle horse in the fall. Shares available. That makes 21 on the team. The goal is 30, then 40…while always thinking about quality. Cut from the bottom, add to the top.

The Cheltenham clocks tick forward. Found my passport, my Cheltenham overcoat and my Cheltenham shoes. Wonder how they’ll look at Taunton…
