Cool WEek

We are still rolling from Cool Jet’s Grade 3 stakes win at Foxfield last week. That’s how this game goes. When you lose, turn the page, move on, look ahead. When you win, you linger a little longer, reminisce for an extra day or 10, bask in it for as long as you can. I’ve pumped my fist a few times as I’ve walked around the farm this week. As we all know, it changes.

I’m heading down the road to Glenwood Park for a stewards’ meeting this morning, then I’ll hang stall cards on 61 stalls, staple three stall maps at the end of each barn and help bed down the stalls tomorrow. Race day is gaining speed. In this sport, we all wear a lot of hats, spin a lot of plates. This week is race director duty. By Saturday, owner will be back on the docket.

As a race director and as an owner, I’ve looked at the weather a hundred times in the last two weeks. A quarter of an inch of rain Tuesday night. Possible rain showers Saturday afternoon, rain Saturday night. I’d like to postpone the races for a day.

We entered Ethics in the Will O’Keefe Memorial Hurdle Stakes and Potus in the James P. McCormick Memorial maiden timber Saturday.

Watch Cool Jet win.

We nominated Cyber Ninja and Serifos to races next week. Check out the Far Hills nominations.

Cool Jet and Welshman to the International Gold Cup. A few others hopefully.
