Damn hot

The power issue is being addressed.

That was the first thing I read this morning. From the Maryland Racing Community WhatsApp thread. Glad I wasn’t at Laurel Park this morning. As for the farm, the cat issue is being addressed.

Our old barn cat who has become a house cat spent the night inside last night because of the heat. Duchess (her brother was O’Malley) went to bed around midnight and woke up at about 4 in the morning. Squawking. It was a long night. Limping and acting strangely, we took her to the vet today, some fluids and some checks, she’s fine, just hot. It could be another long night.

As for racing, Rocket One drew the outside post in the Grade 1 Leo O’Brien Stakes at Saratoga Sunday. Eight line up, including former champion Merry Maker and Colonial Cup winner Fil Dor. Rocket One did everything but win in the Beverly R. Steinman. Hopefully he can replicate that effort, well, replicate everything but the last few waning strides of a heartbreaker. We’ll road trip there Saturday.

We’ll enter Win Street tomorrow for a turf races going 1 1/8 miles at Colonial Downs July 10. New to Riverdee, the son of Street Sense should handle – enjoy – the stretch out.

With a race under her girth, V Inspired is aiming at a turf claimer at Colonial Downs July 11.

Cyber Ninja and King Al are targeting the Jonathan Kiser Novice Stakes at Saratoga July 16. Serifos, Tuddenham Green and Vintage Year could go to Colonial Downs July 23.

Oh, and here’s some news. Big news.

New addition Adonius goes through his paces.
