Go West

Congratulations to Upland Flats Racing, trainer Ricky Hendriks and jockey Harrison Beswick on West Newton’s win in the Aiken feature. Purchased for £40,000 by Stroud Coleman and Clancy Bloodstock way back in 2019, the son of Kitten’s Joy won for the fifth time over hurdles. Bred by The Queen, West Newton built upon his eclectic career with a front-running, lost-the-lead, re-rally to win the $35,000 feature.

West Newton now owns wins at Doncaster, Colonial Downs, Shawan Downs, Pimlico, Foxfield and twice at Aiken

Congatulations to Beswick and comrade Jamie Bargary for wins on opening day of the steeplechase season. Both jockeys finishing their 2023 season with falls and hospital stays at the Aiken Fall Steeplechase. The strong survive.

Here’s West Newton the day he was purchased at Tattersalls.
