Picking up checks.
Palio made his American debut in the maiden hurdle at Colonial Downs Thursday. The 4-year-old found a comfortable spot in the middle, between horses, jumped well, traveled well. Turning for home, duck inside and pounce. Well, he didn’t pounce, finishing third. Looked like he just got tired in his first start since March. Cool horse. Good run.
Jimmy Dan tried to make it 3-for-3 in the 115 handicap but settled for third. Ran well, settled off the pace, jumped well, got shuffled outside around the final turn and wound up third. Cool horse. Good run.
King Tsunami returned to the flat at Penn National last night. We loved him. I bet. He angled over and found a sweet spot inside, got shut off at a key moment leaving the backside and wound up second, no match for the winner, who drew in off the AE list. Place money and a boxed exacta salvaged the day. The slivers of fortune. Cool horse. Good run.
Now, we play the entry game with Pietrelcina and Lorraine. Hoping to run them next weekend.
