Road Trip

Hi Ho Pimlico. We’re off to the races. Keep the grill warm, the laughs rolling and the drinks cold, we’ll be back after a short jaunt to one of our favorite racetracks. Set for a renovation, Pimlico holds a lot of memories for us, and we’ll make sure to appreciate our old friend on a quick day trip today.

Fourmatt with a front-running gem in the Federico Tesio, Dad’s biggest flat win. Alysheba, Lost Code and Bet Twice in the Pimlico Special. A few jump wins, including my old friend South Of Java. So many runnings of the Preakness. Smarty Jones. Curlin. Funny Cide. Justify. That terrible day with Barbaro. That wet and wild day with American Pharoah. I’ve never been so thrilled to wreck a pair of shoes. And a long walk back to the test barn with Rachel Alexandra. I ruined a pair of shoes that day, too.

There won’t be any of those today. But, still, a day at the races. Our favorite thing.

Pietrelcina makes his debut for Riverdee in the sixth race at Pimlico today. Trained by Danielle Hodsdon and ridden by Horacio Karamanos, the 4-year-old son of Noble Mission is 7/2 in the 12-horse field.
