Race day

Another parking lot. Another race track.

Laurel Park today. Pietrelcina in the first. Koru in the seventh.

Thinking about Christophe Clement. Gone at 59. Shocking. Shattering. Another wakeup call to appreciate life, enjoy every day, all those cliches, all those mantras, which we somehow can’t follow. Consistently. Maybe some do, I don’t.

Listening to How I Built This. Calm’s creators Alex Tew and Michael Acton Smith. They’d be telling me that hanging in the Laurel Park parking lot on Memorial Day is not scalable. Although, some of their ideas certainly didn’t sound enticing or interesting. Something about kids taking care of pets on the Internet. Moshi Monsters? Is this really a thing? They reached profitability quickly, $80 million in revenue in a couple of years…really?

With that in mind, I’m off to the paddock for the first. A double at Laurel would help profitability, scalability and certainly help me to enjoy the day.
