Time for Sherminator to get back on the beam.
Ludlow. Race 3. The Ludlow Members Novices’ Hurdle. 9:23 a.m.
Here’s what they’re saying…
Neil Morrice Hollywood Bets: Looked to be travelling well within himself when falling at Cheltenham on a second run back from a wind operation. Unfazed after the mishap, he can return to the level of form that saw him land some good bets on a first start for his trainer at Taunton.
Sporting Life: Built on bumper promise when winning 7-runner juvenile at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow in January on final run for Emma Lavelle. Followed in ready fashion at Taunton in March and departed just as he was being asked for his effort at Cheltenham on his return in December. Respected.
Racing Post: Left Emma Lavelle after winning a soft-ground juvenile hurdle at Newbury; comfortably defied a penalty at Taunton (good) and, following wind surgery and a break, hadn’t been asked any serious questions when suffering a heavy fall two out at Cheltenham in December in a race won by the Supreme favourite Old Park Star; retains plenty of potential.
Racing Post/Alistair Jones: First Candidate is a mare with better days ahead of her but this may concern SHERMINATOR and Kiwi Rush, both of whom ran their latest races at Cheltenham. The last-named was only 7-2 for a maiden in which he was in front and travelling well when stumbling badly at the third last. Sherminator didn’t get away with his mistake two out but he hadn’t been asked any serious questions at the time and that novice was won by the Supreme favourite Old Park Star.
RacingTV: Bumper winner KIWI RUSH has shaped with clear promise on both his hurdle starts to date, each in slightly stronger company than he tackles today, so he’s an appealing candidate for an in-form stable. First Candidate and Sherminator look the other key players on form.
Irishracing.com: Formscan: SHERMINATOR came to grief in the Cheltenham event won so easily by Supreme hotpot Old Park Star at Cheltenham, but showed a useful level of ability in winning at Newbury and Taunton last season. As they were Junior NH events, he escapes a penalty and can get his career back on track. Kiwi Rush was useful in bumpers and has contested some good races since going jumping. He is joined on the list of dangers by First Candidate, who is the pick of the Skelton pair.
At the races: Was keeping on in midfield when falling in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham last time. This was his second run after a wind operation, and he is effective at 2m, so is not dismissed.
