Race Day

Picks are up. Newsletter is out. Car is packed. Tie is about to be tied.

Passes. Check. Binoculars. Check. Form. Check. Nerves. Check.

The biggest day of the season. Six strong races, championships to be won and lost. For a change, the ground won’t throw asterisks like confetti after a Super Bowl. Good, safe, fair racing ground. No excuses.

With just one runner, it’s not as exciting as some years. But I’ve also gone to this gun fight with a knife or two and walked away wondering why I did it. No sense being making up the numbers and missing an opportunity down the road somewhere. We’ll go with Jimmy Dan and hope for the best. We’ll root for our teams, a few Clancy purchased/managed horses and we’ll enjoy a day of sport.

Safe home.
