Saratoga bound

It’s that time of year. Earlier than ever. Off to Saratoga today to catch the ninth tomorrow. Jhirsch making his Riverdee debut at Saratoga. Whew. This was the plan, or part of the plan, when we bought him. A steeplechase prospect down the road, but for now, a New York-bred trying to make an impact at the best venue in racing. The son of Not This Time is 10-1 on the morning line. Jose Lezcano for Laird George.

Time to make things happen. We set out to have a bigger presence at Saratoga this summer. This is the first step in that direction. Jhirsch, Koru, Lorraine, Awakened, Cyber Ninja, Vintage Year, Ethics…dreaming about painting jockeys and one day being stabled at Saratoga for the summer. Time to make it happen.

Mortal Sin finished third at Presque Isle Downs yesterday. Ran OK. Rough trip. No position, no rhythm. Picked up a gas-money check. No paint there.

Vintage Year and Ethics hit the overnight at Colonial Downs next week. They might make it to Saratoga before summer fades. As for now, it’s high summer. Bonus coverage from Saratoga before the real thing starts Thursday. Celebrated the 4th of July at a local party last night. Beautiful countryside in a beautiful country. Despite our problems.

See you on the road.
