It’s been a week. No phone calls. Which is good news. As an owner, you know phone calls only bring bad news. Like waiting for the draft.
Valdez returned with his usual zest and enthusiasm for the job, pulled his way to the front outside of Politologue before clipping heels as they straightened in the stretch at Newbury. The race was over there. Well, maybe it was over when we entered our 1,204-day returnee against the best two 2-mile chasers in the world, but Valdez showed verve, which is what we wanted. Third and unscathed (so far), we’ll take it.
