The closest we came to Black Friday was driving to the Midway movie theatre from Rehoboth Beach. Outlets on either side. Shoppers snaking and sniping. Chaos. Gridlock. Honking horns. A few fingers. And expletives. The giving season.

Thanksgiving done and dusted. A few pies to wrap and send home with weary travelers. A few turkey sandwiches (mayo, cranberry, stuffing…) still to go. We’ll be on the road soon.
Big Saturday on the cards. The Fighting Fifth at Newcastle. The Coral Gold Cup at Newbury. The Hollywood Derby at Del Mar. We’ll be somewhere over the Bay Bridge.
