Todd Snider

Goodbye to Todd Snider. The singer songwriter died at 59. A confounding end to a complicated life. A too-young old friend. A companion on long road trips and quiet runs and last calls. Miles and I sang his songs together. I hummed along to his songs on my own.

I heard him cover singer songwriters who I’d never heard of and heard singer songwriters who I had heard of cover him. John Prine, Robert Earl Keen, Steve Goodman, Chris Smither, Pete Seeger, Arlo, Townes, Kristofferson, Waylon and Willie and the boys, all sitting around plucking songs out of the air. A guitar, a harmonica, a foot beat, a one-off voice on an never-ending tour.

Take one last Beer Run.
