Yeah, all that when you join a race meet board. The Virginia Fall Races offers its annual stop on the tour Saturday. Eight races. 70 entries. I know those numbers. Know them like an accountant knows the numbers, the returns, the extensions on April 15.

Working through stall cards, stable assignments, owner parking and looking for my golf cart. I’m barely a cog in the wheel, my comrades are juggling everything from evacuation plans to tent placements to sponsor hospitality to tailgate spots to locations for the loos.

Riverdee entered three. Mission Brief, King Tsunami and Potus at Glenwood Park. Queens Empire travels to upstate New York. Chances. We like chances.

I’m off to see City Dreamer who is participating in the Field Hunter Championships this weekend. Remember City Dreamer? One of the first real flag bearers for Riverdee as it began to build. A two-time novice stakes winner including that crazy nose win at the Iroquois when he closed on the outside hedge. What a day.
