Work Week

Brisk and sunny at 35538 this morning. Thirty-seven degrees.

Back in the office after hunting with Orange County yesterday. “He’s in a meeting.” Yes, in a way. Rode Lemonade Thursday, the best hunter I’ve ever ridden. One thing to remember when you come to a jump. ‘Do nothing, Sean. Do nothing.’ Short field. Slow day. Fun to be out. “Sean. Laird. Take the field.” Now, that was a new one. No one followed. That’s my fourth time out this winter. Possibly a record.

Finished James by Percival Everett. Second book of the year. Good read.

Most of the Riverdee horses go back to work this week. Going to see the ones at Jack Fisher’s Friday or Saturday. Excited to see some of the new recruits. Then What and Renfro’s Reception for sure.

We entered Rupert The Prince at Newcastle Thursday. Hurdle debut. Post time 7:15 a.m. Right between breakfast and bus. We’ve been watching schooling videos and will start analyzing form. A good winter focus and distraction. If that’s possible.

Nine days to go before the Eclipse Awards are announced. Now that’s a focus and distraction.
